Mealeez: The Food Allergy App has been running for just over 6 months now, and what better way to celebrate than with a plethora of updates that continue to help people navigate the everyday difficulties associated with having food allergies.
Hundreds Of Recipes
Every day we post a brand new recipe for you to enjoy – all helpfully categorised and easy to find. Over 200 recipes have now been added, with every single ingredient scanned to ensure it contains no allergies, and warning you if it does. “PLUS” members have the added benefit of discovering what suitable alternative ingredients there are, including details of how it changes the recipe as well as locations on where you can buy it.
Thousands of Food Outlets
No other food app goes into as much detail as Mealeez does when it comes to flagging up potential food allergies in restaurants and cafes. We currently list seven franchises (Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Pizza Express, Wetherspoons, Five Guys, Wimpy & McDonalds) at over 3,500 locations across the UK, with our app showing you the ones nearest to you. Each menu is checked for any allergens contained in meals, letting you know instantly if its potentially safe to dine there. “Plus” members can get a quick overview of exactly what ingredients are in each meal item and with the tap of a button can filter the entire menu to only show what has been marked as free from food allergens you’ve stored in your profile.
Improved Food Label Scanner
One of the most popular features on Mealeez is our easy to use food label scanner. Just simply point it at an ingredient label and it’ll instantly tell you what ingredients you can’t have. This feature doesn’t rely on barcodes (often missing items from smaller, independent corner shops). This month we have rolled out a more accurate way of detecting unsafe ingredients against our ever growing database. The food label scanner is FREE to use (limited to 6 free scans each month. “Plus” members receive unlimited food label scans).
At Mealeez, we believe that it’s important for those with food allergies to be able to access the resources they need whether it is eating in or dining out, that’s why our aim is to make available as many of the features for free as we can.
