Communicating food allergies can be stressful. Whether you’re in a bustling restaurant, dropping your kids off at a party, or explaining your needs to a family member, you need that information to be clear, concise, and impossible to misinterpret.
At Mealeez, our goal is to remove that stress. That’s why we are excited to introduce the completely redesigned Personal Allergy Profile—your shareable, web-based tool for communicating allergy needs with anyone, even if they don’t have the Mealeez app.
Based on invaluable feedback from our users and consultation with culinary professionals, we’ve rebuilt the profile from the ground up to be the clearest, most effective tool for keeping you safe.
At-a-Glance Clarity: A Design for Real-World Use
Our original profile was a big step forward in digital allergy communication. But we knew we could make it even better. The new design is built on one core principle: at-a-glance clarity.
When a chef, friend, or caregiver views your profile, they need to get the most critical information in seconds. To achieve this, we’ve organized the summary into four unambiguous zones, using an intuitive “traffic-light” system:
- Strictly Avoid (Red): This is the danger zone. It contains both major allergy groups (like Peanuts or Gluten) and specific ingredients that must be completely avoided. The red background and cross icon provide an immediate, unmissable warning.
- Potentially Unsafe (Amber): This is the caution zone. It’s for moderate allergies or intolerances where discussion is required. The amber background and warning icon signal to the person preparing your food that they need to be careful and should ideally speak with you before proceeding.

The new webpage design puts critical information front and center using a clear, color-coded system. The 30-minute expiry timer is now a subtle progress bar at the top.
Print-friendly by design. Here is the print-preview where the entire at-a-glance summary fits on a single page, perfect for printing or saving as a PDF when you need a physical copy.

Beyond the first “at-a-glance” page, is a comprehensive list of ingredients that shows in further detail the ingredients in your allergy profile, colour coded by severity.
Not everyone understands the complexities of food allergies and what foods might be risky. This section helps bridge that gap.
By separating major groups from main ingredients, a chef can quickly see both the big picture (“no gluten”) and the specific details (“no beef”) without confusion.
Introducing “Safe Exceptions”: A Game-Changer for Allergy Nuance
One of the biggest challenges in allergy communication is nuance. You might have a Soya allergy, but know from experience that you are perfectly fine with Soya Lecithins. How do you communicate that without causing confusion?
Our new “Safe Exceptions” section is the answer.
This dedicated green zone clearly lists any ingredients you have specifically marked as safe. It empowers the person preparing your food with the confidence to use ingredients they might have otherwise avoided, giving you more freedom and better dining experiences. It’s a simple feature that removes the guesswork and acknowledges that not all allergies are black and white.
More Time, Less Stress: Why We Extended the Expiry Timer
We also listened carefully to feedback about the real-world pressures of a busy kitchen. Our previous 5-minute timer, while secure, didn’t always account for the realities of a dinner rush—a chef might scan the profile, walk to the pantry to check a label, get interrupted by another order, and return to find the link had expired.
To solve this, we’ve extended the profile’s lifespan to 30 minutes.
This provides a realistic window of time for a chef or caregiver to do their job thoroughly without the stress of a looming deadline. It’s long enough to be practical but short enough to ensure your sensitive health information is protected, automatically expiring once the meal is well underway.

We’ve also streamlined the QR code screen. By removing the header image and extra text, we’ve created a cleaner, more functional interface for instant sharing.
Beyond the Kitchen: Share with Anyone, Anywhere
The Personal Allergy Profile is your universal translator for allergy safety, and it’s not just for restaurants. It’s for anyone who prepares food for you.
Because it’s a simple, secure web link, you can share it with:
- Friends hosting a dinner party.
- A new babysitter or caregiver.
- School staff and teachers.
- A family member who wants to be sure they’re getting things right.
The page is designed to be shared as a live link or printed as a clean, easy-to-read PDF. This flexibility ensures you have a clear, consistent, and official source of truth for your allergy needs, no matter the situation.
This new Personal Allergy Profile is a massive leap forward in making food allergy communication simple and safe. The redesigned shareable profile is now available for all Mealeez PLUS subscribers. Log in to see yours today, and let us know what you think!
