You have the menu. You’ve used Mealeez to check every ingredient and you know exactly what should be safe to order.
But as you walk through the door, a new set of questions begins. It’s the human element—the things an app can’t see. Did the staff seem knowledgeable? Was the environment clean and conscious of cross-contamination? Did your order arrive correctly?
We know that true confidence in dining out goes beyond the menu. That’s why we’re launching our most significant community-powered safety feature yet: the Location Safety Score (LSS).
From Data to Trust: Powered by the Community
For years, we’ve provided the menu data. Now, you provide the trust.
The Location Safety Score (LSS) is a live, real-world rating for each specific restaurant location, based entirely on safety checks submitted by Mealeez members like you. It’s designed to give you an at-a-glance understanding of a location’s real-world performance on the three factors that matter most:
- Staff Knowledge: How well the team understood and handled allergy requests.
- Hygiene & Prep: The perceived cleanliness and care taken to avoid cross-contamination.
- Order Accuracy: Whether the final meal was delivered correctly and safely.
When you browse restaurants, you’ll now see a clear, color-coded badge next to locations that have been vetted by the community, giving you an instant signal of trust.

Tapping into a review reveals the full story, showing you exactly how users rated each of the three safety pillars. You’re no longer just guessing; you’re making a decision based on the shared, recent experiences of the allergy community.
But what truly sets the Location Safety Score apart is its focus on relevance. A glowing review from 2022 is irrelevant if the head chef changed last week. In the world of food allergies, outdated information isn’t just unhelpful—it’s a risk. That’s why the LSS is a living, dynamic rating based only on Safety Checks from the last six months. This ensures the score you see reflects the restaurant’s current practices and staff, giving you a relevant, up-to-date picture of its safety.
It’s important to note what this score isn’t. It doesn’t measure how tasty the food was or if there was a vegan option available. The Location Safety Score has one purpose: to reflect how safely and confidently the community feels you can dine there. In the world of food allergies, that’s the only review that truly matters.
